Scope: 2,000 sq. ft. of decorative concrete driveway with drainage solutions, plus landscaped entry accents
The Story
The Nakamuras were tired of their crumbling asphalt driveway; a muddy mess in rain, a dustbowl in drought. They wanted an entrance that exuded elegance, handled weather like a champ, and welcomed guests with style. Our task? Transform their curb appeal with concrete that’s as functional as it is fabulous.
The Procedure
Demolition & Grading
(Weeks 1-3)
We ripped out the old asphalt, hauling away 10 tons of debris. The site was graded with a 2% slope to shed water, prepping for a drainage duo: a central channel and side catch basins.
Foundation Work
(Weeks 4-6)
A 5-inch gravel base went down, compacted to perfection, followed by a rebar lattice for heavy-duty resilience. This driveway was ready for SUVs and snowplows alike.
Concrete Artistry
(Weeks 7-10)
We poured 60 cubic yards of high-strength concrete, staining it a slate gray with subtle amber streaks. A diamond-grid pattern, scored into the surface, added sophistication. The drainage channel got a cobble inlay for a seamless look.
Landscaping Elegance
(Weeks 11-13)
Flanking the driveway, we poured concrete edging with a chiseled stone finish, framing beds of ornamental grasses. A pair of sleek concrete pillars marked the entry, etched with a minimalist wave design.
Final Shine
(Week 14)
After curing, we applied to a glossy sealant to repel oil and ice. The Nakamuras rolled in on Halloween, tires humming, jaws dropping.
The Outcome
The Nakamura driveway is now a red-carpet rollout, marrying rugged durability with refined beauty. The drainage keeps it pristine through storms, while the landscaped accents make it a neighborhood head-turner. Fourteen weeks paved the way to an entrance that’s pure class.
